Library Round Up

The online version of our library software which we transferred to last Easter, has not been a success.  The slow speed and endless glitches have caused us to look elsewhere, and we are now trialling a system provided by Harrap IT, who also look after our school computers.  If you downloaded the iMLS app, it is no longer being monitored for reviews and reservations, and can be deleted.

The Crafty Story Clubs have been popular and our first efforts are on display in Farnborough Library.  The current group are making string characters from their favourite books.

All Year 1 are currently taking part in the Hampshire Picture Book Awards and will be casting their votes before Easter.  Year 2 are shadowing them just for fun.

We still need a few more 'WOW' facts for our Tree of Knowledge display.  If you come across anything interesting, please send it in.

We still need lots more empty DVD cases so that we can put our story CDs on display, as the usual jewel cases are not robust enough for the children.  If you have any spare please leave them in the library or at reception.  If you ever find a CD does not play properly, please tuck a note inside the case, and I will remove it from our stock.

We have some story sacks available for any families who would like to use the supporting materials to stimulate activities by using a multi-sensory approach.  The aim is to develop and improve your child's reading skills and encourage a lifelong love of reading.  If you would like to borrow one of our sacks or if you have any questions, please come and see me in the library first thing on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.  Sacks can be borrowed for a week or two free of charge, however these are expensive resources and damaged or missing items will need to be replaced so that others can continue to enjoy them.  www.storysack.com will give you a general idea of the contents and suggested activities.

If you have any library questions you can send them to:-

Thank you

Mrs Griffiths

Here we looked at books by Andrew Weale, made chocolate mug cakes for 'Nora' whose appetite is never satisfied, made buckets of 'Dinosaur Poo' and visited Andrew at Elvetham Heath Primary.

Here the children devised some revolting menus, made spider sandwiches, and posted Flat Stanley to their homes.  We were able to make a great display from his adventures with the children.

Children who borrowed Horrid Henry books took part in a live streamed video link-up with Francesca Simon, who told us about her work and answered some of the questions that the children had submitted.  Everyone has also had a go at drawing Henry with instructions from his illustrator Tony Ross.
