Visit from Raptorxotics. Year 2 get to meet some beautiful animals
On Tuesday Year 2 were lucky to have a visit from Dave who runs Raptorxotics. Dave bought a variety of different animals, which had some link to the rain forest which we studied last term. The children were able to share their knowledge with Dave and also met some beautiful animals. Some children were very brave and faced their fears when they got to hold or look at the animals including a snake, hissing cockroach, bull frog, tarantula, blue tongue skink and an owl. It was a great experience.

Barn Owls wowed their grown ups in their class assembly on Wednesday sharing their powerful message about our rainforest. Well done Barn Owls!
Kestrels delighted their grown ups in their class assembly on Wednesday. They shared their powerful message about our rainforest. Well done Kestrels!
Week beginning 18.11.24
This week, the children in year two met with Reverend Anne from the Methodist Church, North Camp. Reverend Anne led an assembly with us and talked about light and its importance within the Christian faith and other faiths, too. We discussed how light can make us feel calm, happy, safe, it can guide us and how it helps us to remember. We will continue to focus on light and how it used in celebration within the Hindu and Christian faiths.
Our Rainforest topic has been a great success this term and the children are really enjoying the new learning. In science, we are learning about animals in the rainforest and focusing on their adaptations. We did an investigation to learn more about senses and how these are important in helping our brain to make decisions. The children were presented with three drinks that all had food colouring added to them. They had to use their sight, smell and taste to decide what flavour the drinks could be. None of the children could identify orange or berry squash through taste! We concluded that our sight was a strong sense in this lesson. We will apply this learning to help understand the importance of animal senses in the rainforest.
