Early Years
Our Early Years children are welcomed at their classroom doors by their teacher or Learning Support Assistant (LSA). If parents need to pass on any information to their child's teacher, this can be done at the classroom door in the morning. Any changes to collection arrangements must be directed to the school office so that the information can be uploaded onto our school management system.
At the end of the day, parents will pick their child(ren) up from their classroom doors.
All Early Years children will have a healthy fruit snack, provided by the school, at an appropriate time of the morning. The children are taken to the school hall for their lunch time at 11:45. Once they have finished their lunch, they can play outside on the main playground until it's time to go back to the Nest for the afternoon session.
Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
Children in Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1) are welcomed into school at the rear doors of the main school building. There will always be a member of the teaching and/or support staff on the door to help the children with the transition into school. They will also be able to take any important messages back to your child's class teacher or the school office.
Approximately half way through the morning session, all children will be offered a healthy fruit snack provided by the school. This is also an opportunity for the children to drink water from their water bottle.
Lunch time for Key Stage 1 starts at 11:55 for Year 1 and 12:30 for Year 2. The children will eat their lunch in the school hall and have the chance to play outside or engage in activities in their classrooms if it is raining heavily outside. The afternoon session begins at 12:55 for Year 1 and at 13:30 for Year 2.
At 15:05, the Year 1 & 2 classes will be brought out to their class shapes for collection.
Assemblies and Collective Worship
On Monday afternoon, at 14:30, the children in Key Stage 1 will join together for assembly in the main school hall. This assembly will focus on one of our Collective Worship themes, which change every half term. There will be a moment of reflection and the children will often join together to sing a song which links to the Collective Worship theme. Once the Early Years children have settled into school, they will come and join the assembly. Until then, they have their own acts of Collective Worship in the Nest.
KS1 children come together in the hall for a weekly Singing Assembly. They will be taught a song which links with the current Collective Worship theme or they will perform a song from their current learning topic to the other year group(s). A moment of reflection will take place at the end of the assembly.
On Friday mornings, our children celebrate the achievements of themselves and their friends in a Superstars Assembly. A number of special certificates are awarded, including 'Superstars', Gold Reading Standard certificates, Harmony Lunch invitations, Tree Team points winners and 'Tidiest Cloakroom' Award. Once again, the children will sing a song together, followed by a moment of reflection.
Each week, there will also be two further Collective Worship sessions either in their own classes or in their year groups.
